Essential Book for Busy Parents in Stores Today
OTTAWA, September 8, 2005 - Parents will be thankful with the release of the first edition of a new, convenient and comprehensive guide consisting of products, services, activities and programs for children in the Ottawa-Gatineau area. It will provide parents, grandparents and caregivers resources and ideas for keeping their little ones active and in style.
"Our goal as publishers of Kids Ottawa and Gatineau is to provide families with children ages newborn to sixteen with a tremendously useful resource book, and to provide businesses and organizations with a very effective vehicle for reaching the children's marketplace," says Nancy Elias, Co-Publisher of the book. "Readers of the book will find hundreds of listings for children's activities, programs, retailers, things to do, family services, and parenting information and support, to name just a few, plus valuable savings."
Alison Foley Howard, Nancy's business partner, adds, "We saw a need in the marketplace for an annually updated resource that is a comprehensive guide to everything that is available for children and families. The concept for Kids Ottawa and Gatineau was born, and as we began researching, developing, and marketing the book, the response we received was tremendous. "
For a low retail price of $11.95 the directory is an affordable must-have for consumers. The book is geared for children ages newborn to sixteen and has more than 1700 listings in 27 categories, including afterschool activities, birthday parties, day camps, family outings, parenting support, pre and post natal, and children's clothing, furniture, and toy retailers. The directory also features a coupon section representing valuable savings. It will be sold through bookstores and children's stores, and will also be available to consumers through www.kidsottawa.com.
Nancy and Alison both have young children and as they ventured into the world of pregnancy and parenting they saw that there was an abundance of great products and services available to children and parents in the region, but no comprehensive resource of the things Ottawa-Gatineau has to offer. As experienced business professionals with backgrounds as an entrepreneur and a consultant they decided to develop and market the directory, satisfying both market demand and their own need for creating a work environment that suits their family life.
Nancy claims, "Alison and I complement each other very well as partners - we offer different skills, interests, experience, and strengths to the equation and I think both of us can say we couldn't have done it without the other. The start up of the business has been a very positive experience."
"I certainly concur with Nancy about the setup experience and our skills. We have great ideas and energy for the ongoing development of the business, but will keep it at a manageable pace, so that we can balance our work life and family life, which is key," states Alison.

*All businesses and organizations that are relevant to the book are included as a free listing. If they would like more exposure in the book they may upgrade their listing with a longer description and larger heading, and they may also place advertisements and/or coupons in the book. This in turn gives more value to the reader as it provides more information, and in the case of coupons, offers valuable savings.
